From the unusual Montserrat Mountain to the bull fighting hamlet of Les Alexandrias there is plenty of places to wander and become lost in Catalonia. It is centrally located to the beautiful nature preserve area of the Pyrenees which are shared with France. Barcelona has the best selection of hotels in Catalonia. In Barcelona along the famous Las Ramblas there are fifteen hotels. The best is Eurostars Gran Marina with the sleek façade of a cruise line ship and has pools, sauna, and a gym. There is also the Husa Oriente with tiny rooms with a lot of character and the occasional air conditioning. Near the airport is Tryp Barcelona Aeropuerto Hotel which is reasonably priced and has a shuttle bus to the airport with housekeeping and front desk service which is usually good. Another hotel within fifteen minutes by taxi from the airport is Novotel Barcelona Cornella with comfortable rooms, variable air conditioning, and access to the metro. NH Cornella is a hotel with small rooms but at least it has walking distance access to amenities such as shopping and food stores.
Other hotels in Catalonia are Silken Ramblas is a comfortable hotel in Barcelona with comfy rooms, and a great location with easy access to the city. The walls are thin and transmit noise quite easily. Rooms are spacious and the hotel does have a sauna. The Evenia Rossello Hotel is comfortable with good value and a quiet location. It is near the metro station which can quickly take you to the noisier places of town. Evenia Rocafort is clean three-star hotel with a good location and great breakfast with the decreased room size you would expect for its location.
If one is bold enough to venture out of Barcelona into Tarragona there are a few hotels to look at. One of them is Hotel Ciutat de Tarragona which has a sauna and gym. Another option is the Hotel corona Tortosa which has a pool and garden.
